Preview — Chapter 01: The Dream and the Decision

Santiago is a young Andalusian shepherd boy living a simple life, traveling with his sheep and enjoying the freedom of the open fields. But he keeps having the same recurring dream: a child tells him to go find treasure at the base of the Egyptian pyramids. Confused but curious, he visits a gypsy woman to interpret the dream, and she confirms: there is treasure waiting for him. Soon after, Santiago meets a mysterious old man named Melchizedek, who claims to be the King of Salem. This man introduces Santiago to the concept of a Personal Legend : the one true path that each person is meant to fulfill in life. He tells Santiago that when you truly desire something from the heart, the entire universe conspires to help you achieve it. Despite his doubts, Santiago feels the pull. He decides to sell his flock of sheep (the only thing he’s ever known) to chase a dream he doesn’t fully understand. It’s not an easy choice. He’s leaving comfort for uncertainty, the known for the unknown. But the seed is planted: maybe there’s more to life than routine. Maybe dreams are real guides, not fantasies. This is the first turning point in any transformation: the moment you say yes. You don’t need a full plan. You just need enough courage to take the next step. Santiago doesn’t know what lies ahead: only that the call to adventure is too strong to ignore.
