A clear distinction is drawn between reflexive intuition and strategic insight. Many people assume intuition is instantaneous and automatic, but this view conflates habit with creativity. Strategic intuition, by contrast, unfolds differently. Insight arrives as a sudden “flash” after a period of mental incubation. It is not rushed, forced, or reactive. Instead, it draws from a wide internal archive of experiences that have been absorbed over time. The flash feels sudden, but it is the product of deep preparation combined with mental openness. The practical takeaway reshapes how leaders think about decision-making. Constant analysis can block insight just as easily as ignorance. Creative clarity requires a rhythm of immersion and release. Leaders who learn to step back after absorbing information allow insight to surface naturally, enabling moves that feel obvious only in hindsight.
